Guns are wonderful and powerful machines. From the very small to mid-sized ala’ Glock 17 and 19 to long ranch high power rifles like the Kel Tec KSG there is an endless array of guns to tickle your fancy for whatever you are into. But there is another side to guns that people do not like to talk about and that is the negative effect guns can have on society. America was founded on self-liberties which have allowed us to grow and become one of the most powerful nations in the world. The thing of it is that there are a lot of people who do bad things with guns and this tends to come out to around 11 7,000 occurrences of gun violence every year. That is a lot of people getting shot. Would it not be easier to not allow people to get their hands on a Glock 19 or another handgun? Short answer is I don’t think complex issues can be solved with simple solutions. It just doesn’t happen that way.
Personally I have owned a gun for a long time. I prefer the Glock handguns because they are light and durable and affordable to match. There are so many companies making quality firearms it can be difficult to maneuver through it all. That is why I love blogs like Gunivore.com and other gun focused websites that have thorough reviews of most of the more popular brands on the market. I am getting off track though and so I will bring it all back. Most of my friends own guns and to my knowledge have never had problems or accidents. The problems occur when you have looser screening techniques for possible gun owners. The more people that own guns the more room for idiots to do dumb things with them. Don’t get me wrong no one deserves to be a victim of gun violence but if you do not educate yourself and learn how to shoot properly and handle a gun responsibly you are setting yourself up for a dangerous situation and truth be told there is so much information on the internet that spells out the right way of how to handle a weapon.
Does America have a disproportionate amount of gun related accidents? Maybe, I don’t know. I haven’t looked up that information at the moment. After all this is my personal blog and as such I decide what I post and what I want to write. But yeah, I am willing to admit there are too many guys on the street carrying guns that shouldn’t. You only have to watch a video on YouTube to see the havoc that can be caused by someone handling a gun the wrong way. These people do us responsible gun carriers a disservice and it makes me sad. As long as we have a willing and able force of responsible owners can we slowly chip away at the issues plaguing the gun community. It is time to take aim folks.
